WednesdayLet's gather and get acquainted! Athens, Ohio is surrounded by hills that rise from a river valley to narrow ridge tops. The county extends west from the Ohio River, mostly centered around the lower Hocking River watershed. The city has a long musical tradition including both local acts and events for touring musicians, performing at Ohio University and area festivals. We'll meet at 6pm for dinner and discuss the tour.
ThursdayWe kick our day off with the "Little City of Black Diamonds" route, which points us due north from Athens to Somerset. Afterward, "Rim of the World" adds the second of nine petals to our clover leaf, venturing into Malta before a brief cruise along the Muskingum river. At its end we connect with "Taste of the Nickel", a hectic bit of riding that delivers us back into Athens proper.
FridayDay two begins with "Lazy Rivers", skirting the shorlines of the Hocking and Ohio. Next, the "Pomeroy Dash" takes it up a notch, bouncing once more off downtown Athens and the Ohio River. Our southern escape is concluded along "Southern Dip", stretching our view of the Ohio river at its furthests point along the state.
SaturdayMore miles to cover find us on the "Zaleski Zipper", a fine bit of road that glides through Lake Hope State Park. "Nip of Hocking Hills" then escalates things, offering the technical demands all sport touring riders crave. Lastly, a trip to Zanesville and back requires the "Triple Nickel" in all of its newly paved, banked curve glory.
